Did You Know? – Swansea vs Manchester United

Manchester United will be looking to continue their strong start to the season that saw them thrash West Ham 4-0 when they travel to Wales to face Swansea. But before you watch the match find out all you need to know about the two side’s history.

  • Manchester United have not loss their second match of a season since going down 1-0 to Burnley in 2009-10 (4W, 3D)
  • Swansea are currently on a six-match unbeaten run which is the most they’ve gone without a loss since the 2012-13 season
  • The Red Devils have kept 18 clean sheets in 39 matches under Jose Mourinho
  • Romelu Lukaku has only scored three goals against Swansea with his last goal coming in March 2014
  • However the Belgian was impressive in his United debut scoring twice from his five shots on goal, created three chances, and won six aerial duels
  • Swansea kept a clean sheet last week against Southampton despite facing 29 shots on goal
  • But they are yet to keep a clean sheet against Manchester United in the Premier League
  • Anthony Martial has scored 17 goals in his Premier League career but will be aiming to score in consecutive matches for the first time since September 2015
  • The Swans will secure their 75th Premier League victory if they defeat Manchester United
  • Manchester have won seven of the 12 matches played between these sides since 2011

There is enough quality in this Manchester United squad to pick up maximum points against Swansea, the likes of Lukaku, Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, and Juan Mata all meshed well together in their thumping of West Ham and should do against Swansea as well. Speaking of the Swans, the departure of Gylfi Sigurdsson does not help the home side who struggled in attack last week as well, firing just four shots on goal.

Vitor Lindelof will be hoping to make his debut after being left out of the side last week, however it will be hard to get into the team for the time being with Phil Jones and Eric Bailly putting in solid performances at the back.

Swansea will have to rely on youngster Tammy Abraham again as Fernando Llorente remains injured with a broken arm.
