What do Andy Keogh and Besart Berisha have in common?

Andy Keogh is a 31-year-old Irishman. He has spent a large portion of his career in the higher divisions of English football. He is currently club captain of Perth Glory, and he is the club’s all-time leading goal scorer. Besart Berisha is a 32-year-old Kosovan Albanian footballer who has spent time in Germany, Denmark, and Sweden while spending six years in Australia. He has won multiple titles for Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory and is the competition’s all-time leading goal scorer. But there is something they have in common.

Melbourne Victory host Perth Glory this week as both sides aim to return to winning ways. Kevin Muscat’s men are winless in six matches (their worst start to the season) while Perth are in fifth but are coming off the back of a 5-2 loss against Wellington Phoenix.

Keogh and Berisha will be vital for both of their sides and both fans will be pleased to read this stat. Andy Keogh has scored five goals in seven matches against the Victory, the most goals he has scored against any opposition. Berisha has scored 15 goals in 18 matches against the Glory, the most goals he has scored against any opposition.

For the record, Keogh has scored five goals against Brisbane and Melbourne City, and Berisha has scored 15 goals against Adelaide as well but let’s focus on Perth and Melbourne Victory.

But what about their form leading into this week’s match? Let’s take a look

Andy Keogh’s 2017-18

  • 253 touches
  • 167 passes
  • 24 duels won
  • Eight shots
  • Six matches
  • Six crosses
  • Six fouls won
  • Four chances created
  • Two goals

Besart Berisha’s 2017-18

  • 151 touches
  • 92 passes
  • 14 duels won
  • Nine fouls won
  • Nine shots
  • Six chances created
  • Four matches
  • Two goals
  • One cross
  • One assist

Now these above stats probably say more about these two as players, plus Berisha missed two matches with injury while Keogh has played every match so far this season.

Adam Taggart’s injury means Keogh is going to have to step up his game, while Victory need to win and they need to score goals so they need Berisha be on top of his.
